The greatest difficulties were encountered dur ing Cruise 11 when, in ten days, only two lines of stations could be completed owing to bad weather and when the time available was too short to make it possible to continue the program.Four or five of the staff members or assistants at the Scripps Institution took part in each of the cruises. These men and four of the ship's crew divided the day into six - hour watches.
