Acting on this suggestion, headmen representing the whole of the tribe, came to ask me to send for a force of Chitralis, to cooperate with the Kafirs in a raiding expedition. The spokesman declared that it was well known to all the village that the Mehtar would do anything to please me, and that if he were asked for rifles, he would certainly send them.
