I have principally followed Gesenius; and the later chapters Of the Work, especially those which treat of the 'irregular' or Weak' conjugations, are an abridged translation of that author's Grammar. These portions contain more information than will be at first necessary for the pupil; indeed, it will not be absolutely necessary that he should do more than commit to memory the Short Paradigm' pre fixed to each chapter, and the accompanying Table of 'normal Forms, ' before he proceeds to translate the Exercise, with which the chapter concludes. When he meets with any variation from the forms he has committed to memory, he must refer to the fuller account of the conjugation that follows the Paradigm.
