Description:A new dispensation was revealed to the apostle Paul through special revelation by God, and the direct result is the mystery church age in which we now live (Eph. 3:1-7; Col. 1:24-29). The mystery church age consists of the members of the body of Christ, comprised of Jewish and Gentile believers in Jesus Christ (Eph. 3:6; 4:12; Col. 1:24; Rom. 7:4; 12:5). This book holds to the discontinuity, or dispensational uniqueness between the Old Testament and the New Testament, Israel and the church, and law and grace. Therefore, the placement of the mystery church age takes place between the sixty-ninth and the seventieth prophetic weeks of Daniel's prophecy. The prophecy refers only to the Jewish people and the city of Jerusalem, and states nothing regarding the current church age (Dan. 9:24-27). Daniel's prophecy consists of three separate sections, each consisting of heptads, or seven sevens. Every week in Daniel's prophecy consists of seven years ,which equals four-hundred-and-ninety literal years. The first section lasted seven prophetic weeks, or forty-nine literal years. The prophecy began in 458 B.C. when Artaxerxes I decreed that the Jews who were being held in captivity return to Israel to restore the plundered Jerusalem. The second set of heptads which started in 409 B.C., consisted of sixty-two prophetic weeks, or four-hundred-and-thirty-four literal years, and continued until the baptism of Christ in A.D. 26 (Dan. 9:25). Daniel then prophesied that "after" the sixty-ninth week, Messiah would be "cut off", referring to the crucifixion of Christ (Dan. 9:26).Daniel prophesied of the future destruction of the second temple and of Jerusalem, which all came to fulfillment in A.D. 70.
