Williams began his Army career at age thirty-three as a private, in Eighth Infantry Division in Germany. After five years, he graduated with honors from the U.S. Army Counterintelligence School, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and served as field office NCOIC in Giessen, Germany, with the 165th MI Battalion. He returned to Ft. Huachuca as special operations instructor and training NCOIC with the school, then designed, taught, and implemented operational security procedures for Information Systems Command.
