This is accepted history just as it is written for our guileless and unsuspicious youth, only it contains a few errors. Hendrick Hudson was not a Dutch navigator at all, but an English one; his name was not Hendrick, but Henry. He did not discover the bay or river, both of which had been dis covered by the Florentine sailor Verrazano in 1529, and by the hardy Norsemen before him.
