Description:My name is Loop and I live in the city of Old High-Crest. I live in a world ruled by money and genetic superiority. I am a Defect, humans who do not meet the perfect genetic standard in today’s world. Most Defects are a result of the decaying world that we live in. The Industries are in charge and treat the world as its dumpster. Clean water only comes in bottles or barrels. It’s rationed to those who can’t afford it and extravagantly flaunted by those who can afford it but don’t need it. The air is toxic as well. Filters have been built to deal with the pollution in the bigger cities but for everyone else, long exposure requires a protective mask. In some areas the pollutants in the air are so highly concentrated it can burn the skin just by coming in contact with it. Over time, exposure to these conditions have caused genetic mutations some for the better, and some for the worse. I’ve seen children born without limbs, with extra limbs, children born without an external layer of skin, without vital organs, most do not last through childhood. Others I’ve seen born with ways to overcome this harsh environment and their defects, people born with amazing talents. I am one of those Defects.I was born with the ability to clone myself. My cells are able to regenerate and reproduce at an accelerated rate and can split off from my original form in an exact copy of myself. The process is somewhat painful. It feels like being a piece of chewing gum caught between someone’s shoe and the floor, being stretched and pulled apart strand by strand but, sometimes it’s necessary for the work I do. Even though most people choose not to associate or acknowledge us Defects some recognize our talents and use us to do their dirty work. I am one of those Defects.It’s usually the Industries that hire me. You’d think, someone like me, who lives in Old High-Crest in the midst of all the pollution wouldn’t want anything to do with the Industries but, there’s a satisfying upside to the work I do. Industries hire me to attack the other Industries. I do everything from spy for them to assassinate. I see the underworld of the Industries and I’m watching them destroy each other for the sake of money and greed. I have no loyalties to any of them. I choose what jobs I take and the money I make goes back home.But now, things have gone too far. The industries are over-stepping their bounds. My friends and my home are in danger.
