Once upon a Murder

Marie Rowan
4.9/5 (28457 ratings)
Description:Tova Katzenell, an Israeli working as a Soco with Scotland’s Police in Glasgow, is in a building as the last occupant is being persuaded, Glasgow-style, to leave prior to the building’s demolition. Tova, simply there in a family history quest, is anxious not to be seen. The building was the scene of a brutal murder in 1920 of two adults and a baby. Tova’s great great grandfather, Reuven Beretsosky, confessed to the crime and then committed suicide. Shortly after she has left the building, it goes on fire. Jonjo O’Hagan, the sole occupant, receives a phonecall and then jumps to his death and one of the two ‘eviction’ men, Wullie Blackstone, is subsequently found at the foot of the stairs decapitated. No obvious motive is discovered by DCI Neil Barron, who is in charge of the case, despite his constant forays into the less salubrious pubs and eateries of the East End.Tova, working with a friend Police Sergeant Barty Ralston, has discovered a connection between the Blackstone family and her own, the Leveins, going back to the deaths in 1920. When a cartouche is found with a Hebrew inscription on it lodged in Wullie Blackstone’s head and she learns that one had also been found on the child’s body, Tova realises that there is a connection between the village in Poland where all the families had originally come from and an ancient Eastern European peasant cult that had practised child sacrifice.Barron allows Tova and Ralston a lot of leeway but is ever present, constantly probing and testing to find the killer, his own dry wit used mercilessly to wrong-foot anyone who might provide even the slightest morsel of information and also hoping Ralston’s own East End connections will flush out those responsible. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
