Chapter 5 provides non-Indian teachers with student-related information such as communication issues, cultural differences, parent attitudes, community influences, and suggested classroom strategies. Chapter 6 contains detailed lesson plans and class activities for grades K-12 on the whole of Indian life and history. The rest of the handbook contains over 350 references and resources, a chronology of historical events, maps of American Indians in California and North America, and suggested criteria for the evaluation of instructional materials.
