Description:A New Age Book of Poetry by Rebecca Anne Banks. Written in Toronto, 1997 – 2006. I had just moved to Toronto from a small Northern Ontario town after a messy breakup with my boyfriend. I was living with a Catholic Lay Community in some historic houses down on Berkeley Street and had finally found some therapy with Deep Process Workers, as I began to sort out my life in a discovery of who I was. The writing is influenced by the museums, art galleries, seashell shop, movies, friends at Cat’s Cradle and Toronto Island. The poems Eden and The Black Orchid Series particularly feature images from visits and stays on Toronto Island, one very hot Summer the place was overrun by wild orange tiger lilies and occasionally swans could be found in the cove. The Canticles: The Seasons of the Sun was inspired by the image of a man tilling the soil in a garden ringed with sunflowers. I left Father Joe’s and moved in with a girlfriend by Yonge Street on the border of Cabbagetown in one of the few old fashioned lowrise apartment buildings in Toronto. Here, I started to have visions of Angels and Saints, particularly the Archangel Ariel showed himself to me and soI dedicated this book of poetry to him.Biography: Rebecca Anne Banks (Poet, Singer, Songwriter, Musician, Writer, Artist, Philosopher, Counselor, Activist) is at home in Montreal.
