Description:This collection presents 10 extremely good novels from mystery writer Hulbert Footner, creator of memorable detective characters such as Madame Storey and Amos Lee Mapin. After the big success of his Madame Storey character (whose collection we present in another volume of 8 books), Footner introduced a new detective, Amos Lee Mappin, in The Mystery of the Folded Paper, 1930. His crimes tend to occur in New York's cafe society. His Mappin’s "Watson" is another young woman, as is his secretary Fanny Parran, an example of how unusually female-oriented Footner's fiction is. Then he continued to write Madame Storey’s adventures, and in 1938, he went back to Amos Mapin with “Death of a Celebrity”. This collection presents his first and second Mapin novels, a later novel (Who Killed the Husband) , as well as his last novel ever, a Mapin Mistery “Orchids to Murder”, written and published in 1944, years of Footner death. However, before Madame Storey and Amos Lee Mapin, Footner wrote several mystery novels. His first mystery story was The Fugitive Sleuth(1916 - a very scarce book, available in few libraries in the world) followed by Thieves' Wit (1918), The Substitute Millionaire (1919)and The Owl Taxis (1921). We have included those four in these collection. Finally, we have also included two non-serial late novels: A Self Made Thief and Sinfully Rich. The complete list is as follows: Part 1.
