Description:Excerpt from Construction of Wills It was originally intended to indicate by asterisks those rules which appear to be inconvenient in their results, and to deserve to be repealed: the reader can, if he pleases, do this for himself. Any legislative alteration of the law of construction should proceed by simply declaring that certain reported cases (on which the rule is founded) shall no longer be of authority, and not by adding fresh rules which will require judicial interpretation. With some alterations of this nature, and with the introduction by judicial authority of a few rules on subordinate points (see, p. 253 (d), and Appendix II. It does not seem but that a reasonable and beneficial system of construction would be attained, and that within a moderate compass. Something will be gained towards simplifying and consolidating the law, if it can be brought to a form in which it may be easily known and recollected.
