E. Taliaferro, Win. Howard, E. B. Tongue. On Letters and Documents - E. B, Teague, M. B. Clement, J. F. Hooten. On Periodicals - A. Van Hoose, J. S. Ford, J. H. Lee. On Finance - D. K. Lide, L. C. Tutt, I. Billingsley. On Preaching - Deacons of the Siloam Church, J. Walker, S. S. Cross, D. S. Hogue. To Nominate Preachers for the Next Session- Edmund King R. Holman, W. N. Wyatt. The Convention was informed that the Houses of Worship of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches in the place had been kindly tendered for its use during the session. Resolved, That ministering brethren, not members of the Convention, be invited to seats in the same. The invitation was accepted by the Rev. James Haggard. Adjourned until half past 2 o'clock, P.M. Met agreeably to adjournment. A letter from Wm. Jenkins, Sr., enclosing a check for $650, was read and ordered to be spread upon the Minutes. The following is the letter; President and Members of the Alabama Baptist Convention: Dear Brethren - I congratulate you in the privilege of once more meeting together for doing good, and that you may be instrumental in sending the gospel to the ends of earth, that the heathen may be converted and made meet for the inheritance of the Divine Redeemer, and the uttermost parts of the earth for his possession. For some aid of which I send you enclosed, a check on Fulton Bank, New York, for six hundred and fifty dollars, which I wish disposed of as follows: $200 for the Mission to the Creek Indians; $100 for African Missions; $100 in Bibles for China, sent to brother Roberts for distribution; $100 in bibles for the Chinese in California, to be disposed of by brother Shuck; $100 for the young men preparing for the ministry in Howard College, and the balance, $50, to assist in sending the gospel to the black people in tins State, where most needed. Yours with a sincere desire for the success of your labors. Voted to attend preaching to-night. The committee on preaching announced that the Rev. Dr. Manly would preach. The report of the committee on Indian Missions was read and recommitted, and T. G. Keene added to the committee.
