And Its Branch Houses The Common Exercises The common exercises are those marked on the Horarium, including Benediction, five Paters and Aves at three oclock on Friday, and the Chapter of Faults. The Rule commands that the Sisters do not absent themselves from these without leave of the Superior, except in a case of pressing urgency; when prevented from asking permission, the cause of absence must be made known to her immediately after. The Sisters wear their large sleeves and train of habit down at all the exercises in choir. The Choir and Choir Duties 1. Silence is always observed in the choir, chapel, and sacristy. When the Sisters enter the choir or pass the tabernacle they genuflect on the right knee. At Exposition the genuflections are made on both knees. Morning Oblation 2. The morning oblation is prescribed by the holy Rule, and includes an offering to God of all the works and actions of the day in union with the most holy actions and infinite merits of Jesus Christ. The holy Rule requires that the morning oblation "be frequently renewed during the day." Meditation 4. Meditation is made in choir for thirty minutes. The Sisters sit at meditation, except during the preparatory prayers and during the last five minutes, when forming resolutions, etc. The meditation may be made on the subject read the previous evening or from some other book if desired.
