Give me leavejuft to add, that I thought it my duty to anfwer thele few objections, that have been raifed againfi the difficulty of conforming our 'wills to the Will of god, by fliewmg that the greatef'r firuggle lies only at our beginning, and that it is no more than what is indifpenfably necefiary for out falvation. As for the means to be employed for the attain ment of this end, I {hall be wholly filent: Being fenfible, that if you are once fully convinced of the greatiiefs of it, you Wlll be neceltarily carried on to the ufe of fuch means as god hath conflituted for that putpofe. I hope my writing after this manner, Sir, Will not be ei'reemed a piece of {elf conceit, or be an infirurnent of unlooiing our former band of friendfhip, which was once defigned to be bound the fafier, by tying it with a religious knot. But whether this proves to be the event, or not, of my telling my friends the truth, I wholly leave to god's Prowdence.
