Theodore Monod (1836-1912) was a French clergyman. He studied law in the 1850s in Paris, before coming to the United States to prepare for the ministry. He graduated from the Western Theological Seminary at Allegheny, Pennsylvania in 1860. For three years, he labored among the French Canadians and became minister with the Second Presbyterian Church at Kankakee, Illinois. Returning to Paris in 1864, he succeeded to his father’s pastorate, preaching there until 1875. During the next three years he traveled as agent of the “Mission interieure,” and in 1878 he accepted a call from a congregation in Paris.
