It is true that I, who have derived from your writings (as many others have done) all the most valuable part of what I know on the subject of colonization, am, perhaps, too ready to claim my supposed right; but I seek, to pay what I owe you, by turning to its proper account the knowledge which I have borrowed; just as the acorn returns to the soil whence itself has sprung.
