Rosyjskie odrodzenie religijne XX wieku

Unknown Author
4.9/5 (27975 ratings)
Description:This is a study of the Russian intelligentsia in the last hundred years including the post-1917 and post-1947 emigres. Much of the story has not been told before in any language, and much more has only been available in Russian and for those with time to search for it. The historical perspective shows a cleavage between, on the one hand, the 'westernizing' habits of life and thought that affected both the political Establishment and the radical intellectual elite, and, on the other hand, the native Orthodox tradition, rediscovered by many of the new intelligentsia in the early twentieth century. The author, himself a member of them, describes the intelligentsia as a social group for the most part highly critical of the Imperial Government prior to the Revolution, and shows how their convictions and attitudes paved the way to the Revolution, which then overwhelmed them. By 1917 many of them had already begun to look more seriously at Christianity, and at its Russian culture; the author describes this as a spiritual search. During the dispersal of the intelligentsia, subsequent to 1917, and notably in Paris, the search was intensified and amounted to a religious renaissance, centred on the figures of Berdyaev, Struve and Bulgakov. The story is told by the author con amore—he believes in Russia, and he believes in the Orthodox Christian tradition. But his book is primarily a historical record, some of it at first hand, of a movement of great importance not only for religion in Russia today, but for the ecumenical movement throughout the world. In the Communist-Christian dialogue it is obviously a document of primary importance. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
