As a manuscript it cannot rank on a par with the unique Oak Book, but it contains Such accurate and interesting information on the sea borne trade in the early part of the fifteenth century, a period in economic history notorious for the scarcity of documentary evidence, that it cannot fail to be Of some use to students investigating the state of commerce at the close of the Middle Ages. The document cannot claim to possess the literary merits of the Oak Book, small as they were, but, as the last Southampton manuscript of any length written entirely in anglo-french, it is not without interest to the philologist, and it supplies some valuable material for the study of the sources of Modern English.
