Isaac: My Life in the Religion Business: The Autobiography of Isaac, Son of Abraham

Unknown Author
4.9/5 (34252 ratings)
Description:Genesis is the best-selling book of all time, but it includes a lot of stuff that is hard to believe I think that a lot of those implausible events really happened, though not in the way described by Moses. As Moses tells it, Isaac is the least significant of the patriarchs, with no significant achievements to be compared with those of his father, Abraham, or his son, Jacob. The only stories about Isaac that anyone remembers from their Bible reading or church or synagogue attendance is that he was to be sacrificed by his father and that he was tricked into giving a blessing to his son by his wife. In my novel, written in the form of an autobiography of Isaac, the biblical version is "corrected," and the true stores are presented-showing that it was actions by Isaac that assured the preservation of Abraham's vision of monotheism, and the emergence of Judaism and Christianity. Why does the Bible denigrate the work of Isaac? There was a plot (okay, not a Dan Brown type plot, but an intentional downplaying of Isaac). Isaac, along with his father, converted many of the people of Canaan to a belief in the one true God. Isaac's grandchildren moved to Egypt, as described in the Bible, and later fled Egypt, wandered in the Sinai, received the Torah, and returned to Canaan. According to the Bible, the Exodus involved hundreds of thousands of people--completely impossible since less than forty moved to Egypt, and fled four generations later. They did not conquer the Promised Land, but were welcomed by their (converted) co-religionists. The descendants of many of these people eventually claimed to be direct descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and those who had gone to Egypt ("What did you do during the Exodus, grandpa?)-. When the Torah was written down years later, the claims were validated by changing the story so as to propose that all the believers in Canaan were (literally) Children of Israel who came out of Egypt in the Exodus. Most of the Jews living today believe that they are direct descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, when the truth is that nearly all are descendants of Canaanites converted by Isaac. Does this book present evidence to support these contentions? Of course not! This is a novel, for God's sake, but it does provide answers for many questions that arise from study of the Bible: Why is circumcision important to Jews? Why haven't we found remnants of Noah's ark? Did Moses really get the Torah on Mt. Sinai? (answer: no, he checked it out of the library). All I can claim for my story is that is more plausible than the traditional one. I don't hold this to be a true story, but it just might be.We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
