To obviate these difficulties, in the preparation of this series of six books, the editors introduced numerous notes in Chinese, explaining the difficult passages and idiomatic expressions. The meaning of the words is also explained in Chinese in the vocabulary. This part of the work was done under the supervision of Mr. Zee Zung Zien, a graduate of St. John's University, Shanghai.
