Master Jiyu- Kennett and is the abbot of North Cascades Buddhist Priory in Washington State. This collection of essays consists of four books. Book I, entitled “How to Grow a Lotus Blossom: Reflections,” is made up of short essays in which Rev. Koshin reflects upon teachings embodied in “How to Grow a Lotus Blossom.” He shows that every part of the book contains teaching that has practical, helpful application in ordinary daily life. Even the most seemingly esoteric spiritual experiences described in the pages of “How to Grow a Lotus Blossom” in fact only exemplify the wonderfully simple teachings of Buddhism–and Soto Zen in particular–at a very deep level.
