The aim of the study was to identify the main differences, and problems in United Kingdom apartment design. The objectives are to identify and analyse current background in apartment design and building regulations regarding apartment design.Case studies of projects completed by architects within United Kingdom were selected. A parallel study was to identify information that influenced the project and why general opinion in the press and journals agreed that these projects were successful. The results of the survey of potential buyers were analysed in order to identify what potential buyers wanted in the apartments which enabled the development of the design layout.Based on the research information, a proposed design solution was developed using an old warehouse situated in Leicester. This redevelopment involved a new design layout which created a new functional space from the existing shell as dictated by the client brief.It was identified that building regulations, health and safety were the main criteria to consider in apartment design. The market value was based on the satisfactory standards of the project and the location, status of building, facilities for residents and quality of internal fittings.This research also includes the reflections of Master course modules which explained the research tools used in gaining the information’s for the project including personal reflections regarding design developments which shown the outcome of the design project was satisfactory and have achieved the aims and objectives initially set in the apartment design project.Conclusion and recommendations on the apartment design project are provided. It has indicated the proposed design is an acceptable and viable commercial project. The recommendations are on design detail by focusing the presentation techniques on the detail drawing, a further study on the economic climate focusing on the Leicester’s economy, housing needs in Leicester by comparison of conversions flats types which are likely to affect influence future studies on apartment design.We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
