Five short years have ought a wonderful change. Its Bonds, issued then at 7 are to-day quoted at and likely to reach 95 before the end of the year. This is the most elo quent proof I can give of the growing importance and settled political state of that vast Republic. If its credit abroad is good, so is its prosperity and internal wealth increasing daily at home. Ten years ago there were not 50 miles of railway in the country; now there are nearly 500 miles completed and working, whilst nearly 800 more are in course of construction or projected.
