The work commenced in January last, and has occupied the attention of the Board during the greater part of the year. After much delay from various causes the improvements were completed in October. The large amount of additional space at 'the disposal of the Board, enabled them to give a careful consideration to the requirements of the Library, and it was finally arranged that the large and capacious hall on the first oor should be converted into a Newspaper Beading-room, and that the room heretofore used for the Reading-room should be set apart for the Circulating Library.
