I believe that our ranking member will be along shortly, but be cause we have so many important things to discuss today, we are going to go ahead and begin in order to enable us to allow the wit nesses to make their statements and have questions and answers. We have discussed with the witnesses keeping their oral state ments shorter than the written statements. We will accept the full written statements. Those will be made part of the record. We will look forward to following up in questions and answers on the im portant points you highlight. We are holding this meeting here today not just to test whether the members of the Committee were sufficiently exible to find a different room, although it apparently has foiled several of them.
