I., October 27th and 28th, 1914; With Standing Rules and Appendix The Retiring Moderator, the Rev. Lester M. Conrow, presided and introduced the Rev. Maitland Alexander, D. D., Moderator of the General Assembly, who preached the opening sermon. The theme was, The Burning Heart from the Luke XXIV. 32. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the Scriptures? In the opening service the Rev. Leroy L. Daniel, pastor of the First Church and the Rev. Albert E. Weston, pastor of the Second Church of Providence assisted the retiring moderator.Following this service the Synod was constituted with prayer.
