Description:Angie and Rosie live with their parents in Houston Suburbia in the 1950's. Angie is five and her sister is four. Their mother Paulette is a stay at home mom, which is typical for that time. She considers her daughters a nuisance. The little one just cries all the time and wets her bed every night. Things were better with her and her husband Early, before those brats came along. She did love Early so much. He was the neighborhood mailman, and he came home every day for a nap and tossed most of his leftover mail into a heap in the middle bedroom, just so he could be with her. Early liked to pull pranks on their girls. One day after work Early brought home a cat. She and Early snipped all the claws off and some of the paws came with them. They gave the cat to the girls. They let the girls play with that cat until it went limp and then lured the girls into the garage storage room. Early slammed a nail through that cat and onto the wall. They locked the girls into the storage room till the next day. That was the way Early liked to do things. He even brought her a little boy, for her very own, home one day. She always wanted a little boy. Unfortunately, during one of her luxurious baths one day, those two little bitches, snuck him out of the house. What could she do? She had to ease up on those girls or they might tell someone. Angie starts school and learns a new meaning of torture; bullying. She is unkempt and dirty and soon becomes the Cootie Kid. There is a girl that comes to school every day in beautiful dresses. Angie can't wait to see what she'll wear next. She goes home and tells Rosie about the beautiful clothes every day after school. When Rosie starts school, she is treated badly, but she has a difference about her. She has beautiful curly blonde hair and such a pretty face. Even in the shabbiest of clothes, she shines bright, but there is something about her that makes the other children want to stay away from her. They sense, and at times, feel and experience her capability to be very mean. She loves Angie with all her heart and remembers how Angie protected her always, when they were little. As Rosie grows older, she needs help from no one. Angie is a dreamer. She sees all the bad things around her, but just tries to 'fix it.' She even sees Rosie as her sweet sister, but if she opened her eyes, she would see that Rosie is only sweet to her. Angie is a quiet girl with thick brown hair and a cute face. She always admires Rosie though and always puts Rosie first.The girls have found a mountain of letters and cards in the middle bedroom. They pick a card and take it to the address. The girls put it in the mailbox and wait. The man that lives there comes home and finds this card. It is an older birthday card from his mother prior to her death. He sits down on his porch and cries. He's recently found out he had pancreatic cancer and has been having some hard times. This card means so much to him and he feels comforted. He carries it with him every day, until he dies. Angie and Rosie go to see their friend, Jake, for advice about opening letters and cards in the paper mountain. He advises them that they are messing with other people's lives to interfere like that and that opening a card or letter is a Pandora’s box, literally. Jake is a small person that the girls met a few years ago, while walking in the neighborhood. He knows some about the girls, but not to the actual extent of the parent's cruelty. He wrote a letter once, to Early, and explained that he knew they were abusive to the girls and he would call the post office and get Early fired, if it didn't stop. Early valued his government job, so he had eased up. Jake is married to a beautiful, tall red head named Rowena. Rosie admires Rowena and models herself after her. Rosie gets older and is very curvy. She loves to dress sexy and wear anything flashy.The girls work for Harley rolling papers every morning. Angie loves Harley like a father. One early morning, the girls come up on Harley's house. The porch light is still on. They can hear the June bugs, it is so quiet. Something is very, very wrong.
