There I was, learning to speak the language, finding new ways to embarrass my children in two languages, getting to grips with the food and the manners, and absorbing Portugueseness and a lot of sheep cheese, wondering and making a lot of notes.This is a memoir-essay-novel-chronicle-story about one English woman finding her way in this glorious country that is Portugal. It first came out in October 2016 in Portuguese and I haven’t been deported yet, so all good. Both language editions are published by Objectiva, an imprint of Penguin Random House Portugal. Both Portuguese and English editions are available in bookshops and online in Portugal, but for overseas sales of the English version we figured that I could be a kind of one book Amazon (not a Diana Prince kind of Amazon… the other kind). However, I might be a bit slower than Amazon, cos it takes me 3 or 4 days to get the books from the warehouse… but hey, the books will be with you with an autograph and possibly a smiley face, so… better than Amazon… )I will not be held responsible for my actions if I hear people saying they just ate “a custard” or “a nata”, or “and this is BARRIO Alto”.
