In Response to the Toast at the Annual Dinner of the New York State Bar Association, Syracuse, N. Y., January 19, 20, 1911Then up and spoke that Highland wight. 'i'll go, my chief, I'm ready, It is not for your silver bright. But for your winsome lady.' The poet being a Scotsman, and therefore truthful, does not tell you, does not deny that before the boat left the dock that silver pound was safely ensconced in the sailor's Sporran. At all events, if the Highlandman did omit that trifling formality, he was quite different from his fellow countryman who was Spoken of by Punch the other day.
