Description:Excerpt from Ambient Air Quality, 1986: State of North CarolinaTotal Suspended Particulate (tsp) matter is collected using high volume samplers and a gravimetric analysis procedure (epa Reference Method) by the state and four local program agencies. There were 75 network sites measuring tsp in 1986 across the state. A total of 4311 tsp samples were collected. A summary of these data appear in Table II.Of these, 37 samples exceeded the ambient air quality standards. This is the largest number of exceedances measured by the tsp network in recent years. Many of these exceedances were affected by exceptional events.
