Wie verdienstvoll diese auch in vielen Hin si.chten sein mag, so scheint mir doch ihr systematischer Teil einer wesentlichen Revision zu bedurfen. In der Vorrede aussert sich lub-bock: ]t is unfortunate that the two naturalists M. Nicol_et und M. L'abbe bourlet, who have of late years contributed most to our knowle@'dne of the Collembola, shouidihf1ei published the results of their labours almost sin-1ultaneously. Dieselbe Anmerkung lasst sich auch machen, wenn man den 'systematischen Teil von lubbock-s Arbeit und tullbergs Podu_rider,1 die ja auch ungefahr gleichzeitig eintrafen, vergleichend studiert. Tullbergs Formen sind im Allgemeinen leicht zu bestimmen wegen der von ihm eingefuhrten, auf guten 111orpholu gischen Merkmalen _ruhenden Terminologie. Von den durch lubbock verzeiehn_eten Formen kann man nur, wenn der Verfasser sie selbst bestimmt und beschrieben hat5 einen vollig klaren Begriff erhalten. Dieses scheint aber zu den Ausnahmen zu gehoren. Statt dessen findet man bei ihm die F ormen alterer Verfasser mit ihren Beschreibungen ohn'e beigefiugte Kritik verzeichnet, wobei sich oft gar keine Stutzpunkte fur eine Identiificierung finden lassen.
