Description:Excerpt from Minutes of the Right Worshipful Grand Lodge of the Most Ancient and Honorable Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania and Masonic Jurisdiction Thereunto Belonging, Vol. 12: For the Year 1875 to 1880That the section was a violation of the law of this Grand Lodge is clear, and indeed, it was admitted by the appealing brethren to be so, but they insisted, however, that it was the Master's duty to allow the Lodge to pass upon it, and that its invalidity, or un constitutionality (taking the Ahiman Rezon as the Constitution) did not justify him in pronouncing it out of order: That under the parliamentary law, did not pertain to the merits of a proposition, but simply to those rules universally recognized, which regulate business, and enforce decorum: and that this was not a point of order which the Worshipful Master had the right to decide.Such is not the law anywhere, and most certainly it is not the Masonic Law; it is the bounden duty of the Master to enforce the laws of the Grand Lodge; to submit to the Lodge a proposition in violation of them and to run the risk of its adoption, would subject the Master to just criticism.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
