This is a journey lived in unending chaos, within and without, with marrow sucked from the bone of life. As the old adage of posterity has it, 'seek to write as if posthumously'. This, then, is a posthumous meditation on the joys and sorrows of being born into this pitiless losing struggle, spat slimy and squalling into a cosmos predicated upon annihilation. And yes, perhaps, this is posthumous writing, a farewell letter, 'Tales from the Crypt'.But even whilst mired in chaos, life was a miracle, and this story was seen philosophically, through kaleidoscope eyes, seeking truth, beauty, wisdom and love, always, throughout the surreal and dreamlike ride.From exotic and alien worlds, surrounded by lunatics, shysters and scoundrels, rascals and rogues, surfers and professional fighters, from the gangsters and villains and murderous killers to the hippies and gentle, peaceful creatures of the world. From scallywagging in surf towns to secluded utopias and psychedelic raves; from fincas to farms; hillside haciendas to hilltop treehouses, huts and shacks; from the heaving metropolis to the third-world slum; from luxury digs to homelessness and sleeping rough under the stars; from sickening plenty and selfish hedonism to feeding the hungry and sheltering the shelterless; from arrest in front of Presidents to panic and flight, from cops to crowbar-wielding Indians, from lynch mobs and more besides; from paid-up, embedded sports journalism in the tropics to 'persona non-grata'; from chaos to carnage, scandal to redemption, all of it—marrow was sucked from the bone of this bastard life.From the lynch mobs and tribalists, to the meth-fried, drug-addled and piss-pickled psychopaths, the schizophrenics and shysters, the casually violent or creepy; from the beautiful, mindful and soulful to the charlatans, scalllywags or self-styled 'gurus', life-coaches and quacks; from addictions to recoveries, Deaths and despair; an unending series of disordered relationships with a cross-section of leopardesses in human minx-form; from charity work to appallingly selfish hedonism; from natural disasters to personal disasters; from being beaten 'without' an inch of my life, fleeing in fear, escaping Death at various turns, from savage betrayals and hideous treacheries and the endless, soul-stirring hilarity of one's own rascally ways... well, it was a life.
