Description:The Capture and Life Among the Sioux by Sarah Luse Larimer (1836-1913). Autobiography of a woman kidnapped by the Sioux Indians during the Sioux Wars. The earliest conflict came in 1854 when a fight broke out at Fort Laramie in Wyoming, when Sioux warriors killed several American soldiers in the Grattan Massacre, and the final came in 1890 during the Ghost Dance War. In 1864, Mrs. Larimer, the husband and their son joined a wagon train from the Missouri River to the rugged mountains of Montana, the fertile valleys of the great basin of Utah, the rich lands of the Columbia, and the grassy slopes of California. On July 12, 1864, a Sioux war party attacked the wagon train killing most of the men."The attack was at Little Box-Elder Creek, in Idaho Territory.
