Description:Körte's first published collection of poetry.I entered the Dominican Order in August of 1952, making Final Vows February 2, 1957. As a Dominican Sister, I. have taught in elementary and secondary schools, and at present teach, in Saint Rose Academy, San Francisco, a private girls' college-preparatory school, English, Latin, music, religion, and a poetry workshop.The Dominican Order fosters a creative spirit of intellectual independence. Since it is a monastic as well as an apostolic order, the liturgy is of great importance to its members; and the great strength as well as beauty of the psalms, hymns and spiritual canticles prayed daily by the Order are a source of deeply poetic experience for me. Thus it is that I must call myself a religious-poet-religious for I cannot separate the one from the other. To say that the religious life nourishes my poetry is to imply also the reverse; in the making of the poem, I speak to God with that same speech I learn at prayer, that very prater which makes poetry possible for me.
