Golden Treasury of Chinese Lyrics

Unknown Author
4.9/5 (28670 ratings)
Description:This book is a collection of 150 tuned lyrics by 48 chi-nese poets from the 7th to the 13th century. The lyric can express more refined and delicate feelings than classical poetry. Wen Tingyun's lyrics seem written in colored ink, Wei Zhuang's in tears and Li Yu's in blood. Yan Shu is a poet of intellect and his son one of emotion. Liu Yong's style combines the refined and the popular and Su Shi's is exuberant, spontaneous and unrestrained. Qin Guan's lyrics are subtle, Zhou Bangyan's symbolic, Li Qingzhao's nostalgic and Lu You's patriotic. Xin Qiji belongs to the "powerful and free" school and Jiang Kui to that of "delicate restraint," but Wu Wenyin can be both delicate and powerful. The translator has tried to make his version as beautiful as the original in sense, in sound and in form.I marvel at the supple ease with which the author dances in the clogs and fetters of rhyme and meter. —Professor Qian ZhongshuXu's introduction, on the theory of translation, is admirable. —Inner Herdan, translator of 300 Tang PoemsThe translations are lovely poems proving that the translator must be as good a poet as those he translated. —Professor & Ms. stave of Connecticut State UniversityThe most beautiful translation of Chinese poems I have ever read. —Professor Englemann of Hopkins -University.(back cover 1990)We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
