In 1952 she married Ahmad Ali Khan, the highly educated Editor of one of the leading English Newspapers, The Pakistan Times.Hajra Masroor eventually moved to Karachi where her husband became the Editor of Dawn newspaper. Hajra Masroor's Collected Works was published in 2015 (3 years after her death) by Sang e Meel Publications under the title "Majmua Hajira Masroor: Sab Afsanay Meray." Hajra Masroor's writing style resembled that of two leading Urdu short story writers who emerged from the Progressive Writers' Movement, namely Rasheed Jahan and Asmat Chughtai.
