Description:Thomas Tusser's good points of husbandry, collated and selected from the various editions of his work by Dorothy Hartley. Thomas Tusser (c. 1524-1580) was a sixteenth century poet and farmer. Born in Essex, he became a chorister and later a court musician. However he later retired from court life, married, and took up farming, moving from place to place though mostly living in East Anglia and London. His 'Hundred Good Points of Husbandry' was first printed in 1557- this was a poem detailing the farmer's year and included several tips for farmers and their wives. His work was very popular and reprinted on several occasions, with Tusser enlarging the work into the edition known as "Five Hundred Points of Good Husbandry", printed in 1573. For other editions he drew on his expanding knowledge of farming in different areas.
