Description:The author's research interests have gravitated toward the History of Christian Thought because of formal educational training. (See my Bio). Along the way I began to write about John Albert Broadus—he seemed to keep showing up. I was first honored to co-edit with David Dockery John A. A Living Legacy published by B & H Academic c. 2008. I also had a chapter in the volume dealing with Broadus as a “John A. Broadus, Rhetoric, and A Treatise On the Preparation and Delivery of Sermons” Next, a dear friend asked me to give two lectures at the Founders Conference Mid-West in St. Louis, Mo in the Winter of 2012. These “How John A. Broadus Embraced the Doctrine of Election” and “How the Doctrine of Election Affected the Pastoral Ministry of John A. Broadus.” Then, BorderStone Press, LLC. published my monograph, John Albert Broadus—Prince of the A New Collection of Sermons and Lectures with a Special Introductory Chapter. As of late, I was asked to contribute a chapter to God's Glory in Baptist History, A Memorial Volume for Terry Wolever. It will be published by Particular Baptist Press. “John A. Broadus and Slavery” will be included in it. I am presently writing a devotional guide collected from Broadus’s writings that will be 31 Days with John Albert Broadus—Pulpit Selected Sermons and Lectures for Daily Devotion & Meditation. I hope to publish it soon on Kindle as an e-book. I have a great love for Broadus and his influence on the 19th Century Evangelical church in America. Together with this volume, I hope all of these contributions can shine some light on one of the great Pulpiteers of America from a bygone era, hopefully to keep his “living legacy” alive. ( Because of the time between each manuscript was delivered and the variety of audiences to which these were delivered there is a modicum of repetition.)
