Sensier told Millet's life up to 1864, but for the following ten years had only put together documents and notes, with here and there, and only for a few episodes, a little editorial work; and even in the advanced parts were many imperfect pages, which the writer, interrupted by illness, had left for quieter days - days which never came. We have performed our work without changing the thought of the chief editor, but allowing ourselves to correct some historical mistakes.
