She was also known as Lydia Kamakaeha P k, with the chosen royal name of Liliuokalani, and her married name was Lydia K. Dominis. Liliuokalani was born on 2 September 1838 to High Chiefess Analea Keohokalole and High Chief Caesar Kaluaiku Kapaakea. In accordance with the Hawaiian tradition of hanai, she was adopted at birth by Abner P k and his wife Laura K nia. Liliuokalani's childhood years were spent studying and playing with her foster sister Bernice Pauahi, the P k s' natural daughter.
