Description:After the land was distributed among the tillers in the Land Reform of the early fifties, two kinds of ''builders'' appeared in China's countryside. One wanted to go it alone, to build up his family fortunes in the old way, looking out only for his personal interests. This novel describes the struggle between these two trends.
